When Jack started his build on his Chevy 2, named Dirt Nasty, he didn’t want a race car. He wanted a car he could drive wherever he wants, then drive it to a track and race it. Jack set his sights on Dragweek from the beginning (about 4 years ago). Where he will have to drive it over 1,000 miles pulling a trailer, and race at 5 quarter mile tracks. As the car was nearing completion, Jack was able to make it to be one of the first 400 entries. That is a big task in itself. So March 25th, Jack got his confirmation he had made it into the big show. We begin to put the car through its paces, putting over 900 miles on the street, hitting up local car shows, cruises, Etc. Then track testing begun. During that, we found converter issues and had to send it off. Other issues arose and we continued to address them as they were found. A month before we leave for Dragweek, a catastrophic engine failure….. As anyone having a car built knows, parts are still hard to get. Machine shops are backed up, Etc. After many stepped up to help Jack (a full post will be completed after Dragweek), many favors were received. We’re 2 weeks from leaving for Dragweek, and these pictures were taken just now. This is the reality of Jack’s never give up attitude. As the shop closes for the evening, attention turns back to Jack’s engine. If everything goes well tonight, the engine will be together. Goals…. Then after work tomorrow we’d like to start getting the engine in the car and start making noticeable progress. The determination, hours of dedication, lack of sleep, money, Etc. keep so many from meeting their goals. Jack works 2 jobs and is a co owner of another business. So imagine the sacrifices Jack has made, along with friends, family and co workers spending many nights and weekends to get here. So whatever you are faced with, never give up. Press harder to make it happen. You’ll have to make sacrifices, spend money you didn’t plan to, rely on friends, along with chasing parts for hours into days. The car was certed for 6.0 by NHRA. Jack got his NHRA license. The parachute has been mounted and fabricated to double as a trailer hitch. So things have never stopped while waiting. We’re proud of you Jack. We know you’ve wanted to throw in the towel over the last few months, but we’re almost there!! 2 weeks…. This is just the beginning of the memories we’re going to make. #TopEndFab#DragWeek#Motivated#DirtNasty
